Currently using efax v 0.9a-001114 with efax-gtk 3.0.12.
My problem is with setting the serial device.
I
currently use a winmodem on ubuntu feisty. Im using the martian drives
for the winmodem. There are a series of symbolic links which it seems
efax cannot traverse. The actual modem is at ttySM0 which is a
symbolic link to /dev/pts/3.
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 2007-05-02 20:43 modem -> /dev/ttySM0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2007-05-04 03:29 ttySM0 -> /dev/pts/3
crw--w---- 1 root tty 136, 3 2007-05-04 03:29 3
Problems:
1. efax seems not to be able to traverse the symbolic links.
2.
/dev/pts/3 is mounted by mtab -- so it is dynamic. Sometime ttySM0
points to /dev/pts/3 and other /dev/pts/4. (Possibly more!)\
mtab file snippet: devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,gid=5,mode=620 0 0
3.
I can insert pts/3 into the config file, however its use requires admin
priveledges so I can really only use program as root user.
4.
Although I can use pts/3 as the serial device I am not guaranteed this
will exist. As mentioned above, sometimes the fax is mounted as pts/4
or pts/3.
Any suggestions on how to correct this problem??
