Hi NeroZero,
Sorry, but there are slight differences between modems, phone
line conditions, the behaviour of remote fax machines, and
OS/driver configurations that occassionally result in problems
that are difficult to diagnose.
In addition to efax, Hylafax and mgetty+sendfax you could try the
commercial fax programs that offer free trial versions (faximum
or fax2send, for example). If none of the Linux software
packages will work for you then you may have to get a different
modem or spend some time trying to figure out what it is about
your modem or setup that isn't working.
If you want to keep trying different things, I would suggest
first enabling the speaker to make sure the line conditions are
good (no background noise) and then add the following line in
place of the line that was commented out:
msleep ( 20 ) ;
If that doesn't work you could try different values (for example,
from 10 to 60) to see if a delay will result in a proper
reception of the CFR that the remote modem is presumably sending
but your modem can't detect.
The Windows software that works with your modem may make special
provisions to work with this particular modem. If you know how
(I don't), you can also run the software under Windows and 'spy'
on the link between the application and the driver to figure out
what needs to be done to make this modem work.
